Glass Block Panels
Glass blocks are a unique material that provides privacy while adding light and elegance to a room. They can be used for shower stalls, windows and decorative walls. The glass used in these blocks is extremely durable, which is why they are frequently used in basements to provide security, bring in outside light and enhance energy efficiency.
Glass is an excellent choice for bath areas as it can be used to define space, even in a small room, adding a dramatic lighting effect to create the illusion of spaciousness. It is also a beautiful medium to use in the creation of shower stalls, providing privacy and removing the need for a shower door.
Depending on the intended application, customers can choose from a number of designs and thicknesses of blocks to be used in their custom project. Arena Tile and Stone has developed a distinct method for installing this product in your home or business that will help to create a stunning impression.
Countertops & Backsplashes
Countertops – When it comes to kitchen design, each customer has a unique set of needs that must be addressed. Style, budget and durability to withstand day-to-day functions must all be considered when choosing counter top materials.
For durable counter tops that require very little maintenance, many customers choose natural stone products. These are quite versatile and are available in a number of beautiful and distinct patterns and colors, depending upon the region they are quarried from around the globe.
Even more elegant materials such as limestone, marble, slate and soapstone can be used to enhance the style of the room. Clients can choose from an array of finishes, including flamed, honed, brushed and polished surfaces. Unique edgings can also be selected, ranging from a straight traditional edge to a very distinct bullnose.
Arena Tile and Stone works directly with reputable, established fabricators to give our clients access to more options when designing their new counter tops.
Backsplashes – A great way to update the look of a kitchen is to replace the backsplash. It adds function by helping to keep the area around the stove top, sink and counters clean. A well-chosen backsplash can also help to improve the overall design of the room, creating an artistic focal point through the use of color, texture and style.
Backsplashes are available in a wide range of colors and styles, and can be made of a number of materials including glass, ceramic tile, granite and marble. Choose from a simple design that will coordinate with the colors and motif or create a complete mural. Our goal is to help each client select a design that will work to improve and enhance the room.
Custom Floors & Walls
The type of material used on your floor should be considered very carefully based upon the design and style of the room, maintenance requirements, overall cost and the purpose of the room. Flooring that will receive a lot of traffic should be made of a durable material that is easy to maintain and keep clean. The use of ceramic tile requires much less maintenance than other types of materials and is much more hygienic.
Obviously, the requirements of a kitchen will greatly differ from the needs of a bathroom. Most bathrooms are not high traffic areas, allowing for the use of more elegant materials such as granite and marble. Clients can choose from a wide variety of colors, sizes, shapes and textures to create a custom design that will add a unique touch to any room.
Through the combination of our high-quality products and radiant heat technology, natural stonework materials can be used anywhere in your home or business. It can be a beautiful design choice for office spaces, family rooms, dining rooms, dens and basements. Our experience with electric warming systems help us to design an ultimate experience for any room.
Shower Stalls
Today’s bathroom designs can be more reminiscent of a spa experience, than of a typical home bathroom. Not only are the styles getting more elaborate, but the dimensions of these rooms are getting larger.
We specialize in designing custom shower stalls. Working directly with the owner’s architects and designers, our extensive knowledge and experience assists in the development of a truly custom design that will fit the required space, using client-selected materials. A separate shower stall optimizes the space of any bath and allows for other unique options, such as benches, niches and body sprays.
One of the most important features of any shower stall is the shower pan. It is critical that emphasis be given to the design and installation of this feature to ensure proper drainage and to prevent leaking. Our professional installers use a shower pan system that is a proven industry method.
Fireplace Surrounds
Fireplace surrounds are a perfect complement to the traditional wood mantel. At one time fireplaces were just a way to provide heat in a room, but today they are used to create a dynamic focal point in the family room, dining room or living room.
There are four distinct parts in a custom fireplace surround. The first part is the header, which is on the outside of the upper area of the fireplace. Next are the hearth and risers, which are used to cover the bottom of the fireplace and finally the legs, which are placed on either side.
Years ago the material used most commonly to face the fireplace was brick. While it is still used in some designs, today’s homeowners are choosing to use more luxurious and unique materials to create a specific look and feel. For example, granite or marble materials are used to create a refined look, while natural limestone, slate and other materials are used to establish a more earthy feel.
Multiple options are available with regard to finish and color as well. Clients can choose from brushed, flamed, honed or polished finishes to help complete the look. Regardless of whether a slab or gauge is used, these materials are able to withstand high temperatures, making them perfect for use in a fireplace surround design.
Culture / Natural Stone Veneer
Culture and Natural Stone Veneer offers a versatile cost effective method to add interest to your design project indoor or out. The Veneer can be used for fireplace surrounds, chimneys, stone walls, columns, home siding and foundation coverings.
A culture stone veneer is a manmade color induced cement product. The casual patterns replicate the look of natural stone due to the color variations and textural irregularities. However the surface color is not saturated throughout so when trimming the aggregate material will appear at the edges.
A natural stone veneer provides more variation of natural colors, shapes and textures. Unlike culture stone the surface color is penetrated throughout so the finished edge is always consistent with the face color. However natural stone may require more trimming as no two pieces are alike.
Whether you select culture or natural stone veneer both materials are high density and resistant to wear, harsh weather, heat, cold and moisture.
Radiant Floor Heating
Renovating a bathroom or kitchen floor is the perfect time to consider installing energy efficient, Radiant Floor Heating. The Ease of Control, Cost Effectiveness, Optimum Heat Transfer, Cleanliness and Many Design Possibilities make Radiant Floor Heating an attractive heating alternative.
There are two types of radiant floor heating systems: hot water tubes or electric wires buried beneath the finished floor. We specialize in electric radiant heat using heating mats that are embedded in a pourable cement or thinset on the subfloor before the finished floor is installed. The electric RFH system is easily controlled by a switch or programmable thermostat. Once the mat is in place the finished floor is ready to be installed. We recommend Ceramic Tile and Natural Stone for the finished floor due to their thermal conducting properties.
At Arena Tile and Stone we will work in conjunction with your electrician to install the radiant heat system in your floor and also select and install the most suitable finished floor to complete your heated floor.
Protection, Maintenance & Restoration
Our years of knowledge and experience in working with natural stone and tile enables us to suggest the proper protection, maintenance and restoration to our clients. We highly recommend that a sealer be applied after installation of any natural stone.
A sealer will not change the look or feel of the materials unless the client chooses to use a formula that is designed to enhance the product. Sealers, which can be water or solvent based, work by creating a natural barrier that is resistant to grime, dirt, grease and water.
In addition to protecting your new surfaces, you will want to know how to properly clean them. Stone counters and other polished surfaces should only be cleaned with non-acidic cleaners. Foods or drinks that contain acids should be immediately cleaned. It is important to know the care and maintenance required for the types of materials and finishes you have chosen.
At some point, older surfaces may need to be reconditioned. The process includes stripping, resealing. In some cases, grout lines can become dirty, requiring cleaning and re-staining when necessary.
Arena Tile and Stone has developed a complete maintenance and protection plan that will help keep your stonework looking fresh. Proper protection and cleaning will help keep it looking new and our restoration services can help even the most dull, worn or stained stonework look amazing.
At Arena Tile and Stone we work with our customers to develop a total maintenance and protection plan.
